Built-in Seating and Storage Makes Smart Use of Space
One of the design strategies we use to increase storage and seating capacity and add architectural interest in the home is built-ins. Built-ins give the home a finished, lived-in look not to mention increased functionality and style. Whether you’re looking for a perch by a window with a view or a way to maximize your existing living space, built-in seating is a smart choice. Here are some examples of built-in seating from our architectural projects, including custom-designed built-in kitchen seating, window seats, and built-in bathroom seating (click on each image to enlarge):
Other ways that built-ins can be applied in the home include custom built-in mudroom storage, such as the genius built-in locker system featured in interior designer Leslie Fine’s guest post on the recently launched New England Home blog. Built-in kitchen cabinetry creates a base for popular integrated appliances, which can be designed to hide all that stainless steel, while a custom walk-in closet storage solution is the ultimate way to organize your apparel and accessories stylishly.
